Message Did they shave your block and head down much? Hope they used the right thickness head gasket. Should have been all put together with assembly lube. After prime, it should start, smoke a bit, then run nicely. I did a very hard break-in. started it, ran for 30 min. then drove..redlined it a few times, then replaced the oil and filter. I have really good compression and 8K miles so far w/o any issues. I know 99% of people will say I did it all wrong, but I have read a lot about benefits of a hard break-in. Glad I did it. Anyway, as long as the engine is turning, the oil pump is pumping. It may take a little time for everything to feel right. Be sure to do a quick oil change at like 100miles because some little shavings may get in the oil on a new rebuild. Cut the filter open and hope to see very little metal dust, or nothing at all. I was told to use oil with zinc and phosphorus in a new engine for the first 100 miles or so. Must have worked.
